Financial Cryptography and Data Security 2023

Twenty-Seventh International Conference
May 1–5, 2023
Bluesun Hotel Elaphusa
Bol, Brač, Croatia

Airlines

Bol has a small airport (IATA: BWK) with semi-weekly (Tuesdays and Saturdays) flights from Zagreb with Croatia Airlines, and also weekly flights (Saturdays) from Bergamo and Bolzano Italy with Bahrain Air. However, most attendees will likely find it more convenient to fly to Split (IATA: SPU), which is well-connected to European hubs, and to take the scheduled ferry service from Split to Bol/Brač (see below). Those choosing this option should take into account the time needed to get from the airport to the harbour.

Airport transfers

It's possible (and quite doable) to arrange a combination of taxi (or shuttle bus) and ferry transfer on your own. For those who want it, though, we've arranged a transfer option with an agency. The price (per vehicle) from the Split airport to the harbour is €60 for a car (up to 3 persons with normal-sized luggage) or €70 for a van (up to 6 or 7 persons with luggage). Prices from Supetar to Bol (for those who take a ferry to Supetar instead of directly to Bol) are the same. Payment is by cash directly to the driver. To arrange a transfer, send an email to emi@klobuk-travel.hr or a WhatsApp message to +385917321590.

Ferries

There is daily fast catamaran service from Split to Bol at 16:00 (16:30 Friday and Saturday) and from Bol to Split at 06:25 (07:25 Saturday, 13:25 Sunday and holidays) from the company Jadrolinija. Adult tickets currently cost just under €6. There are also (more frequent) ferries from Split to the town of Supetar and the village of Milna on Brač (from various companies), but then a taxi is needed to get across the island to Bol. Those who are driving to FC can take the car ferry from Split to Supetar or from Makarska to Sumartin (if coming from the south), and then drive to Bol from there. Here are some ferry timetables.

Practicalities

The power outlets in Croatia are of the standard "Euro" type with two round pins.

As of 1 January 2023, Croatia has adopted the euro as its currency.

Visas

Croatia is a member of the EU and since 1 January 2023 is part of the Schengen area. Most FC attendees will likely not need a visa to enter Croatia, but those who do will need a Schengen visa. See also the visa requirements overview of the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs for additional information.
